#1- Since Valentines Day is mainly geared towards couples, it can be a painful reminder to some.
#2- They believe it's Hallmark's way of making money.
#3- They say, "I think you should spend EVERY day showing your love!! WHY just one? I'm not going to act any different today than any other day!"
#4-They are cheap or lazy and use reason #2 (and/or) #3 as their excuse.
#5-.......You know, I almost think it's beginning to be the "IN-thing" to hate the day.
So what do I have to say to these five personalities? Well actually I try not to say much, but this is what I say in my head: ;)
#1 people: You are the type (usually girls) that always tell me, "Well you have a great guy, it's different!" Of course I agree with the great guy part, but may I remind you I never dated in high school, and only for about 6 months to someone before Andrew???......yet I always loved celebrating Heart Day!-- It DOESN'T have to involve a significant other. I've spent countless hours on handmade cards for friends, family, special teachers, elderly shut-ins, co-workers, residents I take care of (ETC!),
because I love taking the opportunity to do/make a little something special & let everyone know how much I love & appreciate them. I do understand it's geared towards couples and can be a sad reminder of someone you've lost, (or never had), but why not get your focus off of that & show the ones you DO have how much you love them?!(just because you're not in a relationship doesn't mean you don't have loved ones...) People #2- Ok, really people? This is usually a guy's reason, and all I have to say is ....SOOOOO WHAT IF HALLMARK MAKES MONEY? Now I realize I absoutely love greeting cards (both receiving them & picking them out...I can spend forever in a Hallmark store), but really, a few bucks on a sweet card (with a sweet hand-written note), means the world to me, and the majority of other girls. Infact, I've heard quite a few girls say that that's all they really want. Forget the chocolate & roses, just write me a sweet love letter in a card. And if you're really that adamant about "NOT supporting Hallmark", then make a card yourself. She'd keep it forever, and wouldn't care what it looks like (**the way my husband trys to draw a heart is hilarious, but I just think it's so freakin adorable). So come on...You know where the construction paper, glue & scissors are....and Hallmark wouldn't make a penny. (God forbid)

| Johnny Carinos Italian Grill is one of my very favorites & where we save just for Valentines Day. |
People #4- Ok, bottom line, everyone can tell your being cheap and/or lazy, so don't bother using #2 or #3 as your reason. ;)
People #5- Oh come onnnnnn.... It's really not "cool" to dislike it. Stop putting up a tough facade. And I have such a hard time believing that deep down, you wouldn't love Valentines Day if you tried ;)
Whew! I feel so much better. These are the things I would love to say to so many people.
Please make this past week the LAST Valentines Day you use one of these excuses! Embrace the day! Dress up! Make it special! :)
